Tune Tuesday: Ed Sheeran 'X'

As a massive Ed Sheeran fan, yesterday was a big day.  His album, X or Multiply, came out!  I've been a big fan of Ed for a couple of years now with Lego House being the first song I ever heard from him.  I got the chance to see him live last year in January, and it was bfar the best live show I've ever been to.  He didn't need huge production, and I loved seeing him work with the loop pedal.  It was AMAZING!

Here's a little clip from the show I went to.

So I made it my mission yesterday to pick up his album.  I got the deluxe version and F.Y.E. was giving away a free poster with the purchase of the album.  I did listen to a few songs ahead of time since he was releasing a song everyday until the actual release, so I had an idea of what the album would be like.  But let me tell you...listening to the album as a whole for the first time is a way different experience.  It's so much better!  It's hard to pick favorites because it's all so good, but there are some that stood out to me:

  • Don't
  • Photograph
  • Tenerife Sea
  • Runaway
  • Shirtsleeves (deluxe only)

If you haven't gotten the chance to listen to the new album, I highly recommend it! And if you ever have the opportunity to see him live, DO IT!  You won't regret it.

Summer Highlights

Last week was a lot of fun and was definitely a highlight of my Summer so far, so I wanted to put it all in a post so I could look back on it.  A lot of funny things happened.  I would try to post every funny thing that happened, but it would take way too much time.  So hopefully when I look back at this post, it will spark my memory.  ENJOY!

Pretty much Monday-Saturday of last week I was at dance practices for the FAA's Santacruzan.  This year I choreographed a dance for little kids and relearned some old dances I haven't done in years.  Here are some photos from the event and at a get together afterwards.

My cute littles! So proud of them :)

Blood, Sweat, Tears

The next day was Father's Day.  After church we went to a picnic and it was hot! But we all just hung out, went to Christina's house afterwards, and went on a Starbucks run ("STARBUCKS!?!"). Then we watched the NBA Finals!

On Monday, Summer, Christina, and I did a double feature, which is when we watch two movies in one go.  We saw The Fault in Our Stars (bring tissues) and Maleficent (be prepared to fall in love with Angelina Jolie if you haven't already).  These movies were so good, so if you haven't seen them already, make sure you do!  After our double feature we had dinner at Wingstop, which is always good.

I know it looks like nothing major happened, but I got to spend A LOT (maybe too much) time with my friends!

What I'm wearing:
  • Striped and navy maxi dress: Forever 21
  • Lipstick: MAC Brave Red (creamsheen)
  • Black racer back maxi: Forever 21

Unshrinking

So the other day I found one of my dresses had shrunk in the washer! It was the dress I featured in my Memorial Day Weekend Haul, and it's made of 100% viscose (also called rayon).  I only wore it once so I was pretty bummed that it had shortened.  I did a little research and found a solution! I've got my dress back to normal now.  Here's how I did it...

  • I got a big bowl and filled it with water.
  • Add a couple squeezes of baby shampoo (I had some around because I use it to clean my makeup brushes). Give it a stir.
  • I put my dress into the bowl and let it soak for about 5-10 minutes.

  • I took the dress out and squeezed most of the water out, and then I laid it down on a towel, patted it dry a little more, and stretched it out.
  • I put it on a hanger to finish drying and stretched it out every now and then.
That's how I saved my dress! I'm not sure if it works on other types fabrics, but if this ever happens to you give it a try!

The Kimono Top

If I had to name a popular trend for this Spring/Summer, it would definitely be the kimono top.  I've seen these everywhere in many different prints from floral to aztec.  I think they are so cute, and they can instantly turn a normal outfit into something more dressed up.  They're also lightweight, which is great for Summer weather, especially at night.  Kimono tops are one of my favorite things right now.  Here are a couple that I recently bought.

Target

I love this one because it's a bit of a cross between a blazer and kimono.  If you look closely at the front, you can see a lapel type opening.  There are also pockets, which I love. These colors are definitely perfect for the Summer!

Forever 21

I actually bought this top back in March but I wore in for the first time in May.  I am in love with this top, and a lot of people seemed to love it too!  I love that this one has a larger lace look to it.  The detailing on the edges are so nice too!

Here's how I wore it!
