Hey everyone! I'm so excited to share this post today! I have fallen in love with another eye shadow palette...the Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar! There is an original Chocolate Bar palette by Too Faced that I have not tried. The colors just looked too similar to ones I already had. I saw a few people talk about the Semi-Sweet one and it really caught my attention. When I finally saw it in person, I fell in love and knew that would be my next makeup splurge. Keep reading to see what I think of it and for more photos and swatches!
I purchased mine from Ulta for $49. Yes, it's kind of pricey but I think investing in a great eye shadow palette is worth it. First, I want to point out the 14 amazing colors in this palette! This palette is made up of "shimmery caramels, matte chocolates, and pops of decadent color." I love that this has a more balanced mix of mattes and shimmers and that the mattes are really smooth. This one also has more cool colors compared to the original Chocolate Bar palette, which was very warm.
One thing that I absolutely love about this palette is the chocolate smell. If you didn't know, these shadows are actually made with real cocoa powder. It's so nice to be able to do your makeup with the chocolate aroma. Maybe I'm just crazy, but I feel like the smell lingers sometimes and I can catch the scent at random times during the day.
When I swatched these shadows, I completely fell in love! They were so smooth and pigmented. I was even more impressed with the matte shades and how smooth they were. Actually using the shadows was even better. They blend like a dream and they look amazing on!
The packing is so cute! I love how it looks like a chocolate bar. The packaging is a tin casing, which makes it pretty sturdy and it has a magnetic closing which I really love. It also comes with a "How-To Glamour Guide," which shows you different looks you can create using this palette!
Cocoa Chili, Pink Sugar, Puddin', Blueberry Swirl, Peanut Butter, Frosting
Rum Raisin, Mousse, Caramel, Bon Bon, Butter Pecan
The only shades that I don't think I would use so much are Pink Sugar and Blueberry Swirl. Pink Sugar is great to use over another shadow if you wanted something glittery. I don't work well with glitter, but I'm still going to try it out. Blueberry Swirl looked a little out of place to me, but as you can tell from the swatch, it is a gorgeous color. I'll definitely have to experiment more with it.
I've heard people say they prefer the original Chocolate Bar palette, but I can't find anything wrong with the Semi-Sweet. If you have an overload of warm shadows like I did and you want to try something new, this is worth trying out!
Have you tried this palette? And if you have both, which do you prefer? Thanks for reading!
The colours in this are dreamy, especially coconut cream!

DeleteThanks for reading :)
ReplyDeleteThis palette looks so nice! I'm always hesitant to buy new palettes because I find a lot of the colours are similar to ones I already own, but these look fantastic. I really like the Blueberry Swirl, but I'm not sure that I would ever actually use it. Great review!

ReplyDeleteYay! I hope you love it as much as I do! Thanks for reading and Happy Wednesday to you too :)
DeleteI've been eyeing this palette for a while, mostly for the chocolate scent! I think it would make waking up so much easier ;) Do you notice a lot of fall out with this palette? I only own a couple of palettes (Lorac Pro Palette) and some are good, but just not worth the investment....Thanks for posting!

DeleteI have been thinking of getting this, but I'm in two minds about it. If you could give it a rating out of 10, what would it be? What are your other favourite palettes? www.shehearts.net
ReplyDeleteI'd say between an 8 and 9! The original Naked palette is always a favorite and I also love the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty palette for all mattes. Hope this helps and thank you so much for reading!
