The Beauty Blender | Review

Hey everyone!  In my most recent beauty haul, I FINALLY picked up the Beauty Blender.  I know...I'm very late to that party!  Now that I've had a few weeks to use to it and really get a feel for it,  I wanted to share my experience with you all.  To see my thoughts on the Beauty Blender, just keep reading!

If you don't know about the Beauty Blender, it is the most popular makeup sponge out there.  The unique thing about this sponge is that it is designed to be used damp.  When you run the sponge under water while squeezing it, you'll see it expand and almost double in size.  Once, the water has been squeezed out and the sponge has been patted dry, the sponge is very soft and bouncy.  It has an egg shape to it, which is great for different kinds of coverage and areas on the face.

My Thoughts

I was very impressed by how much the sponge expanded and how bouncy it became.  You can easily squeeze the beauty blender with two fingers.  Something really amazing about this sponge is that it doesn't retain water.  After squeezing out all the water and patting it dry, not water comes out when you squeeze it.  I also love the smell of the sponge!

My first time using it, I followed the directions on how to use it.  I dipped the sponge onto foundation on the back of my hand and then dabbed it on my face.  I felt like doing it this way, I used more product than I normally would.  The next time I used it, I dabbed the foundation on my face first and then used the Beauty Blender to blend it all in.  I prefer this way much better.

I really like the shape of the Beauty Blender.  Since it has a rounded end, you're able to roll the product into the skin.  The pointed end is perfect for blending concealer in the under eye area.  What I love most about the Beauty Blender is the bounciness of the sponge.  It makes it so easy to work with and really utilize the egg shape of the sponge.

The finish is really nice!  Your makeup looks nice and flawless, and there are no streaks.  Sometimes my under eye concealer can look dry, but the Beauty Blender does an amazing job of making my under eye area look moisturized.

Cons

One of my issues with the Beauty Blender is that it's harder to reach the area around my nose.  Even though there is a tip on the sponge, it doesn't get into the creases as well as a brush could.  I also find that I have to take a bit more time applying my foundation when I use the Beauty Blender.

Final Thoughts

The Beauty Blender definitely lives up the all the hype it has had for years, and I think it's worth a try.  I like using the Beauty Blender when I want my makeup to look extra nice and flawless and when I want to spend a little more time on my makeup than usual.  If you get the beauty blender, I suggest experimenting different ways to apply product with the sponge so you can find the way that works best for you.  I can definitely say the finish it gives is definitely a winner!

I hope this helped any of you who have thought about buying the Beauty Blender!  Do you use the Beauty Blender?  What do you think of it?

  1. I like it but the bad thing about it is that its kinda wasteful of my foundation because it absorbs it. I know you wet it so it doesn't but it still does. and they rip and stuff so I stoped using them even thought they give a natural finish

    1. I believe you're supposed to wet it, so I can see that it would absorb too much if you didn't. But like I said..I experimented with different ways to apply and found the best way. It just takes some trying out to do. But sorry that didn't work for you!

  2. I've been wanting to try the beauty blender for so so long now but never thought I could justify the cost as sponges never last as long as brushes do. Really glad to know it lives up to the hype though - if I ever am lucky to see one on special offer I am going to definitely give it a try xx

    1. The price is the main reason it took me so long to buy it. I think it's worth to at least try it out though. And as long as you take care of it and use it gently, I think it could last for a really long time. Thanks for reading!
