NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette | Review

Hey everyone!  Today is all about highlighting and contouring!  I picked up the NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette so I could review for you all.  I'm no highlight and contour expert, but I felt like having a palette like this would be a great start.  Just keep reading to see my thoughts!

Highlighters

I love the "Banana" shade!  I love using this under my eyes to set my concealer.  I have pretty tanned skin so this is the perfect highlighting shade for me to use in the areas you want to highlight like your forehead and chin.  The lightest shade is also great for highlighting when you don't want too much a shimmer.  I don't use it nearly as much as the banana shade since I have very tanned skin, but this is a great shade for those with more fair skin.  There are two shimmer highlights - a more yellow golden tone and a much more silver shimmer.  I use the golden one more because it suits my skin tone more.  It's a really pretty highlight that's buildable.

Bronzer/Contour

There are four bronzing/contouring shades.  As an overall bronzing shade to warm up my skin, I like to use the shade on the far left.  When I want to contour, I'll also use the third shade from the left, which is more cool toned.  It gives a really nice effect without looking harsh.  The darkest shade is great to use for a really strong contour, but my face shape doesn't suit a stronger contour so I don't use too much of it.  The second shade from the left is a nice bronzer with a bit of shimmer.  I try to stay away from shimmer bronzers because I have oily skin, but I think it would be beautiful in the Summer when you want to more natural bronzed look.

Final Thoughts

All the shades are very pigmented, and they blend like a dream!  This palette also has replaceable pans so you can replace shades when you run out or customize the palette the way you like.  I think the colors are suitable for many skin tones and undertones.  It's great for everyday makeup and for days and nights when you want to add something extra to your look.

I highly recommend this palette whether you're a beginner in makeup or if your experienced with makeup.  I've been using it everyday since I purchased it, and I'm very happy with it.  You also can't beat the price!

  8. Hi Dyanne! I would love to learn to do contouring! I remember a make-up artist in LA did this for me once and all I remember was how it changed the way I looked so dramatically…it made me look 100% better! Just don't know if I have the patience cuz I like to do make-up very quickly. But, this set of shades does look really good!
